Looking for something to do this holiday weekend? Look no further. The lush and light-filled conservatory in Volunteer Park is a perfect way to spend time with loved-ones. Intriguing to all ages, and with an entrance fee of just $4.00, it’s the perfect local destination to play tourist in your own city.
The structure dates back to 1912, and is comprised of 3,426 glass panes in a wood and iron framework. It’s eye-catching Victorian design was modeled after London’s Crystal Palace. The conservatory is divided into five display houses: bromeliads, ferns, palms, seasonal, and arguably the trendiest room, the cacti/succulents.
Each room is unique and magical in it’s own way. Feel dwarfed by the decade-old palms in the main room, find some really large air-plants in the bromeliad room, and be transported to the desert in the extraterrestrial cacti/succulent room.
Careful not to touch! 🌵🙃
So put on your favorite spring dress (suggestions here, here, and here), pack your camera 📷, and check out the Volunteer Park Conservatory. Even if you’re a conservatory veteran, there’s always something new you might not have noticed before. 🙌🏻🙌🏽🙌🏾🙌🏿
